The #wastetowaves bodysurfing handplane is hand-made from cafe waste. It is a circular design collaboration between foam. and OTHERS, intercepting this waste to create a unique and absurdly fun waveriding vehicle. After a two year hiatus we have built a 2026 batch, and that’s what this product page is all about.

THE PROCESS
The making of each handplane helps 10 HDPE milk bottles find a new purpose. Every bottle used in foam is intercepted, cleaned, melted, molded and hand finished to create a carefully designed piece of surf craft. This entire process happens in our workshop on the edge of Clew Bay in Ireland.

UNIQUE
Each plane is completely unique and completely hand made, each coming with their own quirks and individualities. The patterns and colours on the deck and underside are a result of this process; combining different colours every time one is melted and moulded. The colour combination you receive will be completely random, and will not match the photos shown.

THE DESIGN & RIDE
Bodysurfing is a unique approach to riding waves, which can be as much fun in mushy shorebreak as it is in high performance waves. It is truly accessible, opening up surf for any age or level. The #wastetowaves handplane is stable with loads of lift. This comes from a deep single concave running to flat at the rear, with a wide point biased towards the front of the outline. It is a real all-rounder.
